Keeping welcome shade

A client who wanted to see something more beautiful than the underside of a stairway from her bedroom window. A big old cherry tree.

These motivated the design solutions for this Cobble Hill garden. We designed the space so that we could use the cherry tree for shade in the main sitting area. And we moved the stairway to the other side of the deck so it is no longer in front of any window.
