Cathedral Courtyard

It used to be the playground of a boy’s school. Now the school is converted to condo apartments, and the playground is a shared courtyard garden.

To make it comfortable to share, we created a grove of birch trees to lightly screen different areas from each other. There are lawns where children can play. A ‘wild’ perennial garden keeps courtyard visitors from peering into the windows of the ground floor apartments. Large Russian Olive trees were planted to give immediate maturity. Several comfortable benches are scattered around – private reading nooks.

We are told by the developers that the gardens were a significant selling point for the apartments
