Tiny space designed to be “non-designed”

"Don't make it too new."

This request led to the tiny jewel-box garden carefully designed to feel as if it was never designed - that it 'just happened'. A trickling grotto was built with rounded river rocks; raised planting beds / seating walls made with the same weathered rocks flow easily into the grotto. Irregular fieldstones are laid informally, with spreading plants between the stones. It feels like it has always been there, an informal extension of the house has become another room to live in.
