Secaucus Riverside
Project Credits
A Private Patio on a River.
This patio had to give both a feeling of openness and a feeling of seclusion; both freedom and enclosure.
The owners wanted to keep their beautiful, peaceful view of the Secaucus River, and their access to the riverside lawns...while still enjoying being in their own private garden.
This small raised octagonal patio accomplishes both. To emphasize their access to the lawns we created two ways to step down to the lawns. One is by stepping through the wooden arbor we designed. The second is by stepping under the branches of a small flowering Redbud tree we planted for the purpose. The entire patio is intensively planted – with the approval of the owner who has a lust for gardening which almost matches the designer’s.
